3 personality tests you'll love.

December 20, 2018

Getting to know yourself, your likes, your dislikes, your strengths, and weaknesses is a key way to grow in your confidence and your leadership.

As a leadership coach and team development coach, I get to help clients learn more about who they are and what they were made to do. Before our first coaching session together I have my clients take one of the three below personality tests. It not only helps me to learn more about my client but it helps them to learn more about themselves too.

There are lots of personality tests out there so I wanted to share my top 3 favorites with you that I use with my coaching clients.

I'll provides links to take the actual tests and a bit more information about why I love each one.

I'll also share my results & would love to know yours too!

#1: Myers-Briggs

Check it out here (free)

The Myers-Briggs test will help you to identify more about yourself and your nature in 4 specific ways.

1. Introverted vs Extroverted

2. Intuitive vs Observant

3. Thinking vs Feeling

4. Judging vs Prospecting

My biggest takeaway from this test: I learned that who I am has strengths and weaknesses. I realized that I need to manage my feelings in order to be successful and while I love meeting new people, it's important for me to take care of myself too or I will burn out (lesson learned).

I'm an ENFJ - what are you?

#2: Enneagram

Check it out here (free)

There's a lot of buzz around the Enneagram. This assessment will focus on discovering your core fear, core desire, what it looks like for you to have a healthy self image, what motivates you, and more.

I love the Ennegram because it touches on core fears and desires. I think it's wildly important to know what you're afraid of because then you can start to respond in NEW, informed ways. My core fear is being unloved or unwanted. Now that I know this, I can be gentle with myself when I'm feeling unwanted or I can reach out to a friend for connection when I'm feeling unloved to recharge and feel more like myself again.

I'm a 2 for this one!

#3: StrengthsFinder

Check it out here ($15)

This assessment equips you with a book explaining each strength. In the back of the book you'll be given a link to take the assessment online. After you take the assessment, you'll be given your top 5 strengths in order. Refer back to the book to learn more about how to use your strengths to make an impact at work/life as well as how to relate to other people with other strengths.

StrengthsFinder has always been my go to. The first time I took the assessment was in my early career days at lululemon athletica. I learned that I am gifted in communication and I love maximizing other people's strengths and gifts (hence life coaching as a career)!

My top 5 strengths:

1. Positivity

2. Woo

3. Maximizer

4. Relator

5. Communication

Go get 'em.

xx, M.

Let me know which assessment you take! Tell me your results, I'd love to celebrate with you.
